STEM Education

In a rare moment of bipartisanship, both the House and Senate unanimously approved the STEM Education Act of 2015 that the President recently signed into law. It is refreshing to see Congress work together to move the country forward.

The bipartisan bill was introduced by Science, Space, and Technology Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) and Rep. Elizabeth Esty (D-Conn.).

No new or additional spending is authorized in this bill.  Read announcement here

The STEM Education Act of 2015 bolsters science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education efforts by:

  • Including computer science for the purpose of carrying out STEM education activities at specified Federal agencies;
  • Authorizing the National Science Foundation (NSF) to continue to award grants for informal STEM education; and
  • Amending the NSF’s Robert Noyce Scholarship Program for training math and science teachers to expand eligibility to teachers with a bachelor’s degree so that teachers working on a Masters degree can take advantage of the program.

TechVision21 applauds both the STEM Education Act and the  bipartisan effort. TechVision21 is a strong advocate for STEM education. Our experts provided a wide range of consulting and support services to a team of thought leaders in STEM to build the Navy’s STEM Initiative — STEM2Stern — from the ground up. Educating our children is vital to their ability to thrive and to US competitiveness.
